Raising Boys:
5. Get creative in helping your son learn guy stuff: set out a little basket just for him, fill it with mock guy stuff such as a mock razor, gentle shaving cream, watered down cologne, his toothbrush, toothpaste and a comb. Let him know this is what most guys use every morning.
6. Check out local boys groups and clubs that he can join, and get excited about it. Keeping boys active is important and so is interacting with other boys.
7.Teach him your values and the importance of a godly lifestyle but allow him to express himself and lean toward his own unique calling and talent.
8. If your son is really active, get a chinning bar for his room, install it between the door jambs of his room. Exercise is critical for all children. On rowdy days, have him do ten. Make sure you tighten the bar so it safely stays in place and show him the correct way to grip so he doesn’t loosen it from the doorway. Raise the bar as he grows.
9. Role models are important, ask the Holy Spirit for the correct and positive role models that your son can learn from.
10. Enjoy your son, read positive stories to him, give him positive examples and place a high value on male, female relationships, try not to show bitterness. Enjoying life with your son is key, not worrying whether he is missing out on anything by not having a dad present. Remember, when you do your part God will make up for the rest, and children are only young once.
